Some of Jerry's accomplishments
Since elected in 2006, I have worked to bring positive change to Oceanside by championing issues that make our city a better place to live, to do business, and to raise a family. As a past President of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, I appreciate the significance of supporting business and the importance of attracting new businesses and improving our economic base, which provides the revenue to support our important community services without raising taxes. As the leading advocate for taxpayers, I have been a capable steward of city finances: I have worked to eliminate unnecessary spending, Advocated for pension reform, ALL city employees now pay 100% of their own pension costs, Expanded our bicycle and pedestrian trails, opened Mance Buchanon Park, Cesar Chavez Park, and Luiseno Park where I helped arrange to have Oceanside Valley Little League girls' softball teams to play on these fields. Also I am also proud of my involvement with the El Corazon, first as a member of the oversite committee that developed the specific plan and as a councilmember supporting the 22 new soccer fields which will be an economic driver for tourism, as well as provide much needed space for our children to play. I championed the cost-saving City Charter, overwhelming approved by the voters, that will save taxpayers millions of dollars and provides more local control of our city government. To better serve our ever-expanding community I has been the voice for veterans, seniors and neighborhoods: built fire station 7 and relocated fire station 8 which has improved emergency response times, hired more police personnel to specifically deal with the transient problem Built El Corazon Senior Center Brought Veterans Administration Medical Clinic to Oceanside and worked with our veterans' to convert the old police station into the North County Veterans' Center and I have a program to annually recognizean Oceanside Veteran of the Year

Renovated Mission Branch and Civic Center Libraries, restored library hours, and put the Library's bookmobile back in our neighborhood communities Brought fireworks back to Oceanside at a better location for less cost Worked with the NAACP to restore the memorial signage along the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. corridor Renamed and dedicated the Oceanside Municipal Airport to honor Tuskegee Airman Bob Maxwell Pushed for Mission Ave improvements and supported the landscaping enhancements along Oceanside Blvd and El Camino Real I have worked with neighborhoods to control traffic and to make their neighborhood safer. Also starting in the month of October we will begin reconstructing our beach restrooms. I am primarily responsible for the much need upgrade by directing the proceeds from the sale of a city owned mobile home park to pay for the project.

When I have been out walking precincts you have told me that you appreciate these civic improvements And that Oceanside is becoming a vibrant city where people like to live and visit. My goal has always been sustain the long term economic viability and vitality of our city

I would be honored by you vote
