I am mainly running for the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees because I am passionate about becoming a policymaker and making policies for women and children to improve the quality of their lives. Making policies at a local level through education, employment, economic, health and housing policies allows me to accomplish this goal. Education with the San Diego Community College District Board is a perfect way to accomplish more than one goal at a time and sometimes a lot quicker.

My passion can be summarized ultimately in three main points:

1) I believe we need more quality women on Boards and in office

- I am qualified because I have a Master's in Social Work covering public policy and social and economic development, I understand how good policies are made
- I have sat on numerous Boards throughout the San Diego area and currently sit on the Citizens Equal Opportunity Commission of the City of San Diego
- I have completed enough candidate questionnaires and been through candidate screening processes that let me know that I am more than qualified for this position.
- It is not easy running and campaigning as a woman, let alone being a woman elected official, often women encounter the Good Old Boys Network and because women do think differently it can be challenging

2) I believe we need more diversity on the San Diego Community College District Board of Trustees

- As am African American and Vietnamese woman, I would reflect and represent the San Diego Community College District student body (can relate to challenges some of the student body face every day)
- Advocate for the employment of more diverse faculty and support staff

3) I believe we need more change at the San Diego Community College District

- Sometimes you have to do something different to get different or better results
- I not only already represent change but I would bring change to the Board with new ideas and a fresh perspective
- I almost received 40% of the vote from the San Diego Community in the June Primary Election without any major endorsements or name recognition, it let me know how much voters want a change
- I would bring change by informing, educating, advocating and making sure the community is aware of who their Board Trustee is, what the San Diego Community College District Board does and what opportunities, benefits and information are available (free programs: 55+, Veterans and English as a Second Language)
