Questions & Answers

1. What experience and training would you bring to this office?

As a college student, I learned to navigate the educational system with inadequate support. There are many aspects of the educational process that can be streamlined and made clearer for students that I had to discover through trial and error. These struggles have led to me developing a lot of independence and leadership skills. Over the last 10 years, I have further developed these leadership skills and have been involved in leadership programs to prepare me to become a trustee. I am committed to building the future generations of leaders though civic and leadership development, and I am prepared for the role of Trustee.

2. What do you see as the role of the Board in labor negotiations?

The role I see of the board in labor negotiations is to be fair and make the best decisions that are for the students.

3. What are your goals for the college? Are students, faulty and staff currently meeting those goals?

Today's students at the San Jose Evergreen Community College District are facing new challenges. The necessity of obtaining an affordable education for skilled and technical careers or entry into a 4-year college has never been greater.

Accountability - I will strengthen and be an asset to the governance of the board by listening to the voice of students and making smart and appropriate decisions.

Access to courses - With many impacted courses, I hope to be able to find non-traditional methods to help students successfully achieve their educational goals.

Achievement gap - I will create and support programs that encourage marginalized students to reach their full academic potential.
