SAFE NEIGHBORHOODS

Even though the city is facing a budget deficit we should never have to compromise the safety of our citizens. Deepka is an active member of Neighborhood Watch and has been organizing National Night Out in her neighborhood for many years. Deepka will work tirelessly to ensure no more cuts occur in our police and fire departments. Our police officers and firemen work hard to guarantee that our neighborhoods are safe and secure -- Deepka will work to make sure this continues.

Adequately representing Milpitas' citizens will be Deepka's only agenda. She will be involved in all neighborhoods, walking the streets asking for resident's support before the election and long after listening to their concerns. She will establish neighborhood meetings where residents can come and voice their opinions.

Deepka is an independent candidate not sent by any special interest group, she will fight for the public's interest. Her only special interest will be the people of Milpitas -- they will always come first.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY

These may not be the best of times for the City of Milpitas, but Deepka will work to make sure these do not become the worst of times. With RDA funds cut, public safety services limited and libraries and community centers closed our city is facing a budget deficit as never before -- Milpitas needs a experienced councilmember with knowledge of finance and budget.

Deepka has an MBA in finance and many years of experience in accounting and finance services. She was appointed to the Milpitas Budget Task Force by the mayor in 2010. Deepka knows that residents are hurting due to the economic downturn. She will be a sound fiscal manager at City Hall.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Milpitas has many retail businesses, entertainment venues, recreational parks and beautiful open spaces. All of these make Milpitas a great city where people love to live and come to work and play. Deepka will give our residents confidence in the future of Milpitas by investing in our city.

Economic development is very important, we must maintain the jobs and housing balance to ensure prosperous growth within Milpitas. From her time as president of the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce, Deepka understands that cities thrive on small business. Deepka will focus on making the business environment in Milpitas amicable and in tune to attract new businesses -- no more vacant retail and industrial spaces.

Deepka will work to make Milpitas an even more tourist-friendly city. Hotels and local retailers thrive on tourist and business visitors. This has declined in the past few years however, with the new 49ers stadium in Santa Clara, we have the ability to attract people to stay in our hotels, eat in our restaurants and shop in our stores.
