Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Deborah "Debi" Livesay

Candidate for
Director; Coachella Valley Water District; Division 5

This information is provided by the candidate

The division I represent (Division 5) has a very large population and all communities are disadvantaged areas. The east valley of Coachella does not have decent drinking water in most areas. Infrastructure is basically non existant.

During the last 4 years of my participation on the CVWD Board of Directors almost $17M has been realized for the east valley. I am sure the other board members would agree with the fact we are very proud of this fact.

However, there is still much to do. With the new Chromium VI regulations that has been passed in the state we are facing some drastic changes that will need to be made. They are going to cost money. For the last 4 years we have not raised domestic water rates. That will change in the years to come.

Salton Sea revitalization has been a priority of mine for over 15 years. I was able to build a successful pilot demonstration project at the north end of the Salton Sea that demonstrated how shallow ponds can be used to support fish for the birds to eat on their journey on the Pacific Migratory Flyway. Projects currently being planned now are based on the work that we did through pilot concept.
