My name is Janis Mantini and I am running for the HBUHSD Governing Board. I have always been passionate about education, recognizing its importance not only to our children, but to our country. I have worked with students over the years as a speaker and mentor through organizations such as The Youth Motivational Task Force, Society of Women Engineers, and The Girl Scouts. Now, I ask you for the opportunity to serve our community and students as a member of the high school district governing board. I promise to bring fresh ideas and great energy.

I have lived and worked in Huntington Beach for over twenty years and am an active member in the community. I have had the privilege and honor to serve in the following areas:

Board of Directors - Visit Huntington Beach Marketing and Visitors Bureau 2013 to present Board Member - Oiler Music Guild, Student Accounts 2014 Board of Directors - Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce 2007-2013, Chairman of the Board 2011 Industrial Professional Advisory Committee to the College of Engineering, The Pennsylvania State University, Aerospace Department 2006-2012, Chairman 2011 Planning Commissioner - Huntington Beach Planning Commission 2009-2012, Chairman of the Commission 2012 Board of Directors - Orange County Workforce Investment Board 2007-2012 Member - Huntington Beach Centennial Planning Committee 2008-2009

I have also been recognized for my career and community work in several forums.

Outstanding Engineering Alumni 2011 - Pennsylvania State University Fellow + Society of Women Engineers 2002 Business Woman of the Year 2011- Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce Member ofthe Year 2009 + Huntington Beach Chamber of Commerce

In my thirty two year career at The Boeing Company, I have had the opportunity to work on a wide range of our company's products and to work in a wide range of disciplines such as: Program Management, Supplier Management, Systems Engineering, and Design Engineering. I have had extensive experience in establishing strategies and policies along with the integration and execution of many of our development programs. These skills and experiences would provide the ability to develop solutions to the challenges facing our high school district.

I had the opportunity to serve on the Industrial Professional Advisory Committee (IPAC) to the College of Engineering at Penn State. The IPAC is a select group of representatives from industry, government agencies, academia and the profession who advise the College of Engineering on academic issues and on current trends and future directions in engineering. In this role we were responsible for reviewing the strategic plan at the University, College and Department level to ensure cohesive execution to objectives, ABET compliance, interview student and facility, and provide feedback to the Department Chair and College Dean. We evaluated the University's strategic plan to prepare "world class engineers", and I feel that the foundation for that effort is to provide our higher institutes of learning "world class" high school graduates. I am interested in working in the community to support that objective as a HBUHSD Trustee.
