Introduction

By Jeffrey Prang

Candidate for Assessor; County of Los Angeles

This information is provided by the candidate
Jeffrey Prang has earned a reputation as an effective and innovative leader in local government through his 20-plus years of dedicated service as a Mayor and Councilmember, and as a public administration professional.

For the past year and a half, he has played a key role in the current reform administration that was put into place to stabilize the Assessor's Office in the wake of public corruption charges. In that time, the Office has been stabilized and has developed and embarked on an aggressive strategic plan for the future.

Now, the Office of the Assessor needs a new leader, with the integrity, knowledge, and practical experience to manage such a large and important public agency.

As Mayor and Councilmember, Jeff helped make West Hollywood a model city with a national reputation for excellence. Under his leadership, West Hollywood remains one of the only cities in the State of California with an AAA bond rating, a strong budget surplus, and that invests significant in infrastructure, public safety, and its residents

An experienced public administrator in his professional life, Jeff is a former Assistant City Manager and senior official in city, county, and state government where he gained the experience necessary to run an important agency like the Los Angeles County Office of the Assessor. Also, having served for nearly a decade with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department

Most importantly, he served as a member of the executive staff for two Assessor administrations, completed the appraisal training program, and served for over a decade on the Assessor's Citizens' Advisory Committee. Moreover, he worked as an aide to then-Board of Equalization member, now State Controller John Chiang, who has endorsed Jeff's candidacy, along with State Board of Equalization Chairman Jerome Horton and former Assessors Kenny Hahn and Rick Auerbach..
