Rex Richardson has spent the past four years serving the people of Long Beach's 9th Council District as Councilman Neal's Chief-of-Staff, making him uniquely qualified for the job of Councilman.

Richardson helped navigate and push through some of the 9th District's most impressive accomplishments, including the Uptown PBID, the Liquor Store Modernization Program, and the annual "Getting Back to Work" regional jobs summit. His primary objectives will be to continue to prioritize bringing jobs and economic development to North Long Beach, to revitalize our neighborhoods, and to keep public safety a top priority.

Before working for Councilman Neal, Richardson was the Political and Community Coordinator for SEIU Local 721, a community organizer in South Los Angeles County, and a leader for numerous Democratic and community campaigns.

Rex is a longtime member of the greater Long Beach community. He attended college and served as President of the representative student government at CSU-Dominguez Hills, and is a graduate of Leadership Long Beach and the Leon and Sylvia Panetta Institute for Public Policy Leadership Seminar.

He is the Executive Board Representative for the 64th AD of the California Democratic party, former president of the Long Beach Democratic Club, and has been involved in numerous boards and associations, including the Fairfield Family YMCA, California Pools for Hope, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.

Rex and his wife, Nina, are graduates of the Long Beach Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program, and are proud homeowners in the Coolidge Triangle neighborhood with their dogs, Rocky and Kizzy.
