My Goals for Our Town

By Carla Stone Condon

Candidate for Council Member; Town of Corte Madera

This information is provided by the candidate
Now that we are recovering from the recession, I am looking ahead to the challenges of making Corte Madera yet a better place to live.
One of my primary goals since I have served the Town of Corte Madera is to preserve the small town character that we cherish. This has become a challenge with the adoption of Plan Bay Area I have been aggressive in working to preserve local control of our land use. I support efforts for sustainability; however, I don't believe, as do the supporters of ABAG and Plan Bay Area, that high density housing ensures a reduction in green gas emissions.

I am on record for advocating for safe and separate bicycle and pedestrian routes and improvements to traffic circulation. With the future opening of Cove School, financing for Safe Routes to Schools is more important than ever before and I've been proactive in securing funding to make vitally needed improvements throughout the Town.

Public Safety is a top priority and I will continue to make every effort to have optimum police and fire services. With the recent consolidation that formed the Central Marin Police Authority, we now have an increase in patrol staff with a reduction in cost to our Town. I served as Chair of the Police Council during the consolidation process.

During my tenure on the Town Council, I have been a strong supporter of maintaining and improving the Town's infrastructure, making it superior to many other cities in Marin. I am fiscally prudent and prioritize spending to maximize value and avert undue future expenses.

We have a beautiful Town and I pledge to do all I can to ensure that we continue to benefit from the quality of life we enjoy here in Corte Madera.
