Promoting Local Businesses and Bringing Jobs to the West Valley

Joyce Pearson has owned and operated her own business in the 3rd District for over 20 years. She is also a former President of the Encino Chamber of Commerce, and a member of every Chamber of Commerce in the 3rd District. She will fight to improve our business environment.
As Councilwoman Joyce will strive to:

  • Streamline business permitting and promote tax fairness to level the playing field so that West Valley businesses can compete with surrounding cities
  • Build public-private partnerships that foster job creation
  • Provide business relief for small businesses
  • Create a business advisory council
  • Ease remedies for infractions of city rules
  • Provide tax incentives to attract new businesses and jobs
  • Develop industry-specific projects
  • Create program where major corporations can work with Pierce College and CSUN to create work-study programs to fill specific jobs

Medical Marijuana Clinics

  • Maintain strict control over the sale of medical marijuana
  • Establish physician prescription monitoring programs by establishing medicinal marijuana dispensaries in medical clinics

Municipal Investment and Projects

  • Ensure money goes to revitalization specifically in District 3
  • Increase money spent on projects for busy areas in West Valley
