Creation of ad hoc Committee on the Entertainment Industry

By Mitch O'Farrell

Candidate for Council Member; City of Los Angeles; District 13

This information is provided by the candidate
I will advocate strongly for creation of an ad hoc Committee of the Los Angeles City Council that can serve as a clearing house for issues important to the entertainment industry.
Los Angeles has seen its entertainment industry lose jobs and lose its luster over the years. This is unacceptable and we must exhibit leadership and demonstrate that this industry is here to stay. Because of the complicated nature of jurisdictions among city, state, and county governmental structures, there isn't any one place to focus on creating more jobs and keeping them here. Over ten years ago we created the ad hoc Committee on the Los Angeles River. That has yielded incredible benefits, millions of dollars of funding, and we are on the road to revitalization there. We can do the same thing for our struggling entertainment industry. This is not only important to Council District 13, where Hollywood is located, but the rest of the city and county. This is an important component to my jobs plan.
