My Platform has been built around input generated from a series of conversations with individuals from the community of the 7th District, results from my ongoing survey and my priorities.

Questions asked of community members: "What are your three main priorities / concerns that your councilmember needs to address?"

As a result of their responses, key issues of my campaign are Employment, Land Use & Development, a Sustainable & Balanced Budget, and Public Safety.

  • Public Safety: Keeping our neighborhoods and community safe, is a priority + We must continue to create, maintain and strengthen our high impact safety partnerships with LAPD and LAFD

Your safety is my priority. Even though crime is down, continued vigilance and support for our Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles Fire Department are needed to insure the crime rate continues to decline. Working with local neighborhood councils and neighborhood watch groups is key to strengthening our safety nets. It is also important to establish a close relationship with LAUSD in order to keep truancy down and students engaged during and after school. We must continue to create, maintain and strengthen our high-impact safety partnerships with LAPD and LAFD. Police and Fire Departments must be provided with proper funding.

  • Land Use & Development: With an emphasis on protection of equestrian needs and open space from over development

Working in conjunction with neighborhood councils, chambers of commerce, homeowners, and neighborhood improvement associations, we need to develop a truly comprehensive master plan that supports each community plan. This master plan should address future land use issues that encompasses housing, business development, schools, equestrian needs, protects our open space / environment from over development, while supporting community backed development. Land use issues must have the backing of affected neighborhood councils and surrounding communities.

  • Sustainable & Realistic Balanced Budget: We must live within our means

We need a sustainable realistic balanced budget with a short-term and long term fiscal plan of action that incorporates accountability and transparency. We need to address the impending impact of increased taxes, costs of city services on constituents and the efficiency of the services provided. We must create attractive options that will draw manufacturing, film & television and small businesses to Los Angeles, resulting in more jobs and a stronger / more sustainable tax base.

I will oppose tax increases, unless they are voter approved, temporary and have a fixed rate.

  • Employment: Quality jobs (building stronger public & private partnerships)

Creating a true partnership with local businesses, nonprofit community based organizations, labor and our educational institutions; for all have the opportunity to benefit from business incentives, community enhancements and a stronger pool of qualified individuals.

I have always been an advocate for students and a stronger educational system. They both are the catalyst for building and maintaining a foundation that allows for vibrant communities. Without a viable education system, we are guaranteed an ambiguous future, supported by individuals who did not have the benefit of a sound and strong education, thus leaving an unacceptable percentage of people underprepared, for a competitive global market.

"I believe that together we can make a difference, we can work for the betterment of our 7th District." So, I'm asking for your support... your partnership.
