Hello Neighbors and Fellow Stakeholders,

My name is Steve Ly and I am running for the Elk Grove Unified School District Board, Area 6. I am running because I believe that educating our students should be our top priority. Recently, we have witnessed that when you mix politics and discontent, students lose out. As an educator and a Carroll Elementary School parent, I have a personal commitment to the success of all of our children.

About 30 years ago, I entered the United States speaking not a word of English. However, none of my teachers or bilingual teaching aids ever gave up on me. Today, I am testimony to the success of a free and public education. I am truly blessed to have continued my education to earning my bachelor's degree at UCD and my doctorate's degree at UNC. Taking part of the American Dream has inspired me to ensure that this dream continues to live on for many of our current and future students. It is my obligation to pay this forward to the next generation of students.

I am currently with the Sacramento County Office of Education. I have taught in Elk Grove Unified School District and served on the Carroll Elementary School Site Council. My wife is an Elk Grove teacher, and my children are students in the Elk Grove Unified School District. I will bring accountability to the school board and place the focus back where it belongs: on our students. I will be your voice on the school board and together, we will improve our schools. I would be honored to have your support and vote.

If you believe in my priorities and vision, speak well of me and follow my campaign on http://www.stevely.net or http://www.facebook.com/stevely2012.

Sincerely,

Steve Ly
