Motivation to Serve

By James A. Najera

Candidate for Board Member; Fullerton Joint Union High School District

Motivation to serve:

I want to serve on this board because I have current real-world experience of how high school students, teachers, parents and administrators succeed and struggle every day.

Two years ago I was laid-off as a tenured high school teacher and I now substitute teach everyday and experience a spectrum of classroom settings. I know when I see excellent models of instruction and leadership. I also see first-hand the disparity of broken teachers and administrators who struggle with students and parents who simply have given up.

I know there is a better way-a way for each student and their parents to choose their path-whether it is a University of California admission letter or a learned skill-set that leads to a livable-wage job. We leave no one behind. We pull each other up.

Help me lead our children and their parents with a 21st-Century learning paradigm.

If you share this vision with me - if you share this hope with me - I ask you tonight for your vote on November 6.
