The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare)

By Michael P. Rives

Candidate for Member, Board of Directors; Antelope Valley Health Care District

This information is provided by the candidate
The new ACA (Obamacare) is going to present many challenges to the healthcare profession.
We are about to embark on a new adventure in healthcare in the U.S. Not since Medicare have we seen the advent of such sweeping changes in the healthcare delivery system.

My concern specially for AV Hospital in Lancaster is our budget. We need money to operate, of course, and with the new ACA there is going to be competition for patients and money. The same is for Palmdale Regional Hospital.

I want to be certain we get our portion of the monies and that is why I intend to promote AV Hospital and Palmdale Regional Hospital to make certain they survive during the fiscal challenges that the ACA will present.

As a director of our healthcare district in the AV, I will fight to see that we are reimbursed for costs and that they are promptly reimbursed. Because I am retired and I am available to help the CEO with his projects and my own, I see a new relationship between the board and the managements of the two hospital mentioned.
