Education is not really about politics, but about educating students. With that in mind, I would devote my time in office advocating for the classroom.

The primary function of the school district is to provide all the support and resources that are needed so that teachers are able to effectively do the job of educating the children of this district. As a member of the school board I would make sure that this is being done in the best and most efficient way possible with the resources that are available.

I would also work hard towards the district offering more music and art district-wide so that students will have an opportunity to grow and expand their interests in these areas. In addition, we need to increase vocational course offerings at the middle schools and the high school. Students need more opportunites to develop those vocational skills that can lead to greater opportunities after high school (not all want or need to go to a 4-year college).

I believe that we can continue to improve the educational opportunities available to our students by working together, by listening to all stakeholders (parents, students, teachers, administration, classified personnel) and using resources effectively. Sacramento is not much help so we must come together as a community of advocates for the students of this district and do our very best for their sakes.
