I am running for judge because the public deserves an opportunity to decide who their judges will be. We cannot always trust politicians to appoint them. A judge should have extensive courtroom and trial experience and be chosen by the people. The law mandates that elections take place for judges of the Superior Court. As the Sacramento Bee stated - I am well qualified to be on the bench of the Superior Court.

Judges fill a unique role in our society, making decisions that impact the lives of the people in our community where we live as well as the safety of the members of our society. I live in Sacramento County. I have been a prosecutor and defense attorney in this county as well as worldwide when our country ordered me to perform duties in foreign countries. I also served as the Court Administrator and performed duties of Chief Judge of DWC here in this county and statewide. I have successfully defended women and minorities who were discriminated against by managers within government and successfully resolved their cases.

The law mandates Judicial elections in order to provide an important check and balance against political favoritism. Our County should not be required to have a judge on the bench who is not fully vetted by the people. The law allows us to choose a judge that has the experience necessary to preside over cases, be impartial and fair.

A judge needs to be fair and impartial and understand the complexeties of the issues presented before the court and then render a fair decision that applies the law to the case at hand. It comes down to these core issues - qualifications, experience and commitment. With 25 years as legal counsel, and over 20 years of service to the country, I believe my qualifications and experience for Judge will serve the public well.
