I have 25 years of experience as a teacher, parent, vice-principal, assistant superintendent in charge of curriculum, and an educational consultant working with a non-profit working with many of the school districts in District 5. I also am passionate about including youth voice and decision-making in the educational process to create systems that respond to the needs of youth and making education more engaging and more relevant to them. This approach also gives youth more opportunities for student leadership and taking responsibility for their own educational success. An obvious example of this would be in school climate and anti-bullying efforts on a campus. Adults alone cannot effectively maintain a positive school climate that natures and encourages all stakeholders to be successful. In addition, my leadership experience in being in one of the best high schools in Sacramento, Mira Loma, and helping in the development of effective programs for students and staff throughout my career are qualities desirable for a good board member. Furthermore I am very active in my community having held board positions in the Sacramento/ Jinan Sister City Organization, the Sacramento Chinese Cultural Foundation, and Kids for Peace. I am also active participant in the Grant High School's Pacers for Peace, the Sacramento Law Enforcement Chaplaincy, the Sacramento Tolerance Coalition and I am also active in my church as a prayer chaplain and a gospel singer. I have also experiences in international student exchanges especially with China. I am also a recent graduate of the FBI Citizenship.
