Michael West Ideas for Walnut

By Michael West

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Walnut

This information is provided by the candidate
My positions on the issues facing Walnut.
Here are my positions on key issues facing us:

I oppose the red light camera in Walnut and will work to remove it. The fine amount with traffic school is over $500. Redflex, an Australian company, operates it for profit which I think is wrong.

I will work to solve the Mt. Sac parking problem on Walnut streets by encouraging them to build a parking structure for students.

I am against raising property tax assessments for any reason, including city landscaping/LOSMD.

I want to lower the cost of the Walnut Council for taxpayers, so I will not take the healthcare benefit provided.

I was elected to the Suzanne School Site Council in 2009 and was appointed to the Walnut Stadium Task Force in 2008. I opposed the Industry NFL stadium because I believe the Environmental Impact Report was not adequate in protecting Walnut homeowners. I'll bring the residents' perspective back to City Hall.
