Infrastructure

By John Robert Watkins

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Long Beach; District 4

This information is provided by the candidate
Our roads are falling apart, and their answer has been pothole repair. Are sidewalks are lifting and cracking, and their answer has been asphalt patch. We need to do a better job taking care of our neighborhoods, with real fixes, and not bandaide solutions.
The 4th District does not stop at the Traffic Circle. Our boundaries are very unique and require different types of attention. Although we share the same concerns about our infrastructure, poor quality of roads and curbs (some still not meeting ADA requirements), the issues of those living within the Anaheim Corridor are often different than those in the Los Altos area. I have been a resident of the Los Altos area for over 30 years. Airport noise and flight patterns from the Long Beach Airport will always be a concern. The current modernization of this historic facility was long overdue and progress is taking place. After completion, we still must continue to monitor noise levels and the number of flights.
