Position Papers
Preserving Arcadia's Community of Homes
Residents of Arcadia told the General Plan Advisory Committee that their most important concerns were the preservation of the atmosphere of a community of homes, and the prevention of mansionization.
Development of the Arcadia Downtown Business Association
Members of the Downtown Business Association are excited about improving the Huntington Drive & First Avenue Area. Residents desire a walkable area of restaurants and interesting shops. I encourage the businesses to adopt a unique name that defines their area.
Arcadia's Unfunded Liability
While Arcadia is in a better position than many other cities, we should begin to address the issue of unfunded liability for pensions and post retirement health care benefits. Talking only about the budget surplus and not the unfunded liabilities leads to unrealistic expectations for greater expenditures and higher levels of service. We should not saddle our children, grandchildren and future generations with solving this problem.
