Candidate for
Member, Governing Board; Fairfield Suisun Unified School District

I am a native of Fairfield and have lived in this community for 59 years. I was introduced into the world by two loving but undocumented parents that came from Mexico to find a better life for themselves and their family. I am the second oldest and have two brothers and five sisters.

Upon entering Grade school I started to learn my second language, English. I attended K. I. Jones Elementary School and Armijo High School. While at Armijo I was president of the Key Club and the Armijo Letterman's Association. I was also Armijo High School MVP both my junior and senior years. I then spent two years at Solano Community College where I have since been inducted into the Solano Community College Hall of Fame. I spent the next two years at the University of California at Berkeley where I competed in both track and cross country in the Pac 10 while studying Archaeology.

I worked as a substitute teacher in the Fairfield Suisun Unified School District and as an adjunct professor at Solano Community College. In addition to being a teacher I had owned and operated a wood products company in Fairfield for twenty years. For the last nine years I have owned and operated Rockville Bike. I also enjoy being a volunteer for the City of Fairfield and have been a volunteer for the City for the past twenty years. I am active in local clubs as well having founded RATS, a local cycling club in 2001.

My hobbies include photography, building furniture and of course, sports. I ride bicycles, both road and mountain. Other activities include scuba diving and fishing. I also like to travel and combining as many of the aforementioned activities as possible while on vacation. My wife has been a professor at Solano Community College for 30 years and enjoys all of the same activities except Scuba diving in cold water.

I also work as a union journeyman finish carpenter. I've had the fortune of applying a lifetimes worth of learning and skill on some of the most prestigious projects in the Bay Area. Including but not limited to the Pacific Union Club (SF), St. Regis Hotel penthouse (SF), Skywalker Ranch (Marin), Larry Ellison's res. (Woodside) and Diane Feinstein's res. (SF).
