This information is provided by the candidate

My name is Denise Robles and I am a lifelong 45-year resident of the City of Commerce. I was raised in the Bristow Park area and have resided in the Rosewood and Veterans Park areas where my husband of 24 years and I have raised six children. In the last few years as I've taken the time to become more involved in the community as a Neighborhood Watch Block Captain and by attending and speaking at Commerce City Council Meetings. I have also had the honor to serve Commerce first, as a Library Commissioner and for the last two years as the Chair of the Community Services Commission. As a result I've developed a fundamental understanding of how the City's services are an integral part of keeping our community strong.

Professionally, I am currently the Office Manager for a national tax preparation company, where I am responsible for the results of fourteen employees. Previously I worked as an Administrative Aide with the Southern California Gas Company in their Department of Budget and Planning where I assisted managers and analysts in monitoring and preparing budgets. I've also worked as an office manager for a private school and as an administrator for a construction company. I also value education and have impressed upon my children the importance of college. I have an Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts from East Los Angeles College.

In addition, service is very important to me. I currently volunteer as a food server at the Food Pantry at the Florence Avenue Foursquare Church. Previously I volunteered at Calvary Chapel Christian School Activities Department.

Below are more of my accomplishments:

Licensed Tax Preparer Commissioned Notary Public Los Angeles Unified School District Small Business Boot Camp + 2006 National Latina Business Women's Association's Emerging Latina's Program + 2006 Los Angeles Sheriff's Department + ELA Station Community Academy + 2008 U.S. Department of Labor + OSHA Construction Safety & Health Training - 2005

My goal as a member of the City Council is to protect resident programs and services. As a businesswoman I believe the best way to do that is by cultivating a strong and vibrant business community. This requires that the City's is clean and attractive, streets and roads are kept in good condition and strong leadership from the City Council.

My vision is to bring strong leadership to the Commerce City Council and to work closely with all of the City's stakeholders to make a better future for everyone who is part of the City of Commerce.
