I was born in Mexico and lived in Mexico City, Guadalajara and Rosamorada, Sinaloa before coming to the United States with my mother at an early age. She came to this country in search of the American dream. She worked tirelessly as a waitress and housekeeper so I could have a better life. Like most parents who want more for their children, she encouraged me to get an education and give back to my community. I attended Middleton elementary, Henry T. Gage Middle school and Francisco Bravo Medical Magnet High School. I hope I have done her proud as I was the first in the family to receive both a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from San Diego State University and a Master's in Business Administration from the University of Redlands.

Receiving an education has afforded me the opportunity and ability to dedicate my professional career to improving my community. Having been raised in Huntington Park and attending local schools since Kindergarten, I am well aware of the needs of our community. For the past decade, I have been fighting for the working families in the areas of jobs, affordable housing, and education.

I have been fighting together with school administrators, parents and students, elected officials, labor and business leaders, with the goal of protecting the interests that matter most to our community and working families.

Since 2008, I have worked closely with California State Assembly Member Ted Lieu to protect homeowners from foreclosures while fighting against consumer fraud. I have also worked for local non profit organizations as well as being a voice for our community by collaborating with elected officials at the state and national level.

My strong work ethic, education and experience, commitment, and dedication, are all values instilled by my family and will help me serve our community well. These values motivate me on a daily basis to continue to fight for the working families in our area.

It would be an honor to serve you as a Council Member of the City of Huntington Park. I respectfully ask for your VOTE on Tuesday, March 8th.
