Cotati has taken important steps to prepare for and take advantage of economic recovery by identifying and developing specific plans in areas appropriate for business development. However, that is only half the battle. The next step is to actually identify and lure businesses to our community. Cotati has an active Economic Development Task Force, Chamber of Commerce and a recently formed blue ribbon panel of local businesses and academia from Sonoma State helping us to identify methods to attract the types of businesses Cotati residents have identified as important to them. The City Council approved the Northern Gateway Specific Plan, which is a blue print for economic development in this important business corridor, and signifies that Cotati is ready to do business. By clearly outlining the types of businesses that can locate in the Northern Gateway area, much of the planning hurdle and related expense is removed from the process, and is also very attractive to businesses.
