Strategic Planning

By Nancy Dobbs

Candidate for Board Member; Palm Drive Health Care District; 4 Year Full Term

This information is provided by the candidate
Meaningful strategic planning is critical at this point for Palm Drive Hospital. The Board has set the dates for this important task.
Working with our management team, Brim Healthcare (they have just changed their name to HealthTech) we have completed the preliminary work on the strategic plan. Numerous internal and external interviews have been completed. An environmental scan - competing hospitals' data, population demographics, demographics of provider populations, etc. - has also been completed.

An educational session with the Board of the hospital and the local physicians is scheduled so that the docs can give us their thoughts about the current environment they work in and their hopes and visions for a successful health care system in West County.

Then we will hold 2 half day sessions with the Board, staff, physicians, and the community to review and consider this data and thinking. We will arrive at recommendations which we will ask our staff to turn into an action plan. The action plan will then be considered by the Board, of course in an open, public session, before final adoption.

The plan, thus developed, will be our roadmap for future endeavors and activities. It will be thoughtful and comprehensive, rather than driven by crisis and panic. A new day has truly arrived for health care in West County.
