Smart Voter Full Biography for Bill Pommering

Candidate for
Director; Padre Dam Municipal Water District; Division 3

This information is provided by the candidate

BILL POMMERING's career has been primarily in management within the insurance and financial industries and he has spent his time in looking at the best ways to accomplish a multitude of tasks: from manufacturing to sales, from IT to claims processing, he has been responsible for budgets in excess of $100 Million.

Recognizing his talents and his solid record of fiscal responsibility and management, he was elected as Treasurer of the Padre Dam Water Board--by unanimous vote--during his first year on the Board.

Bill moved to the Santee area almost thirty years ago and he and his wife Patty have raised their family here--living in the same house for almost twenty-seven years. They are now the proud grandparents of four wonderful grandchildren.

Bill's hobbies include music and computers. He and Patty enjoy spending time at Santee Lakes--in fact they were married there! Their son Rick is a local high school teacher and his wife Kahla is the owner of Jami Lou's Place in Alpine. They have two rescue dogs (K.C. and Angel) whose antics keep the family active and on the go!

Bill and his family have always been actively involved in our community: for over twenty-five years, Bill managed adult softball and soccer teams. He is an officer and director of The Tucker Automobile Club of America, Inc. a non-profit educational organization that was founded over thirty years ago.

In 2009 Bill is one of the founding members of The Santee Lakes Foundation--an independant organization that was established to find donors to help the development of Santee Lakes with private funds and through community based activities. It is not a part of Padre Dam MWD and is designed to be an ongoing example of the private and public sectors working together to benefit the community. Bill was elected the first President of the Foundation and donates his time to the organization which is just begining its work within the community.

Chosen from a field of thirteen candidates, including both of his opponents in this election, Bill was judged the most qualified candidate and was appointed to the Padre Dam Board in May of 2009; he is seeking re-election to that seat.

His over thirty years experience--from working with some of the largest companies in the world, to smaller start-up ventures and non-profits--made him the ideal choice: he knows what it takes to run a business in a responsible manner: large or small.
