This election has to deal with the Wal-Mart mini-Super Center on Twin Cities Road and the growth of the city. I plan to contact Wal-Mart and work closely with them and the citizens to find neutral ground. The retirement homes are another issue that faced our city over the Del Webb project. I know jobs will be another issue and growth of our city: many citizens want responsible growth and are afraid that large companies will over run Galt and soon take away the small town feeling. Our citizens like the small town feeling and want to keep this kind of environment for several more years. I have seen the general plan and for the most part I agree with how the city wants to develop over the next few years. I do have a few suggestions and would like to keep moving forward with the plan to make this a better community with options. It is important to the citizens and me that I keep an open kind of government policy; I will try to do this by updates with modern technology and involving the citizens from the comfort of their homes. I want our citizens to get more involved with local government and continue to re-evaluate each decision elected officials make with issues that concern the community. "I believe a government is for the people by the people" (Abraham Lincoln) elected officials need to work together instead of pushing self interest. As an elected official, I will remember that it was the citizens who gave me this opportunity to serve them in the best interest of the community. I will give the Galt community the voice that has been lost for so long in our local government. As elected officials, we must realize that our decision today will have some kind of impact on tomorrow's children. We must continue to evaluate our responsibilities and obligation to our citizens and know our decisions will have a positive out come for our children's future.
