Hello, my name is Mike E. McCune and I am running for Galt city council in the November election 2010. I have lived in Galt for approximately eight years and few months. I am married to a wonderful woman and have four daughters. We are extremely happy to be part of such a wonderful community and plan to enjoy the Galt community for several years. I currently work for the State of California Prison Industry Authority with the Department of Corrections. I have two degrees which I have worked extremely hard to achieve; my first degree is in Associate Arts of Business and my second is a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. I also have some certificates in criminal justice and fire science. I also volunteer on the Herald Fire Protection District as a Fire Fighter, Public Relation and Commercial/Fire Apparatus Supervisor instructor. In the past I serve on the Volunteer Fire Fighter Herald Association and assisted with grants for our department. These degrees are not what make me a good candidate; common sense and listing to the citizens is the key to each elected official.

All city council should first listen to its citizens; for without them why do we need a city council. I believe the Galt city council needs to have a new voice to help refresh the ideas that have long been forgotten. "It should be a government of the people for the people" (Abraham Lincoln). We need not career politicians; but elected officials who remember citizens hold the most important position in America. I will bring back the citizens voice in our government, I will return our council back to our citizens who realize their votes and voice count.
