Who is Steve Hanson and what has he done for the Ratepayers of SSWD?

My name is Steve Hanson, your current Vice President on the Sacramento Suburban Water District. I previously served as your elected representitive on the Arcade Water District, prior to that I served 8 years as a Director on the Arcade and American River Fire Districts. My family and I are 46 year residents of Arden Arcade. I'm an honarably discharged Navy and Army Veteran, have an A.A. Degree in Fire Science and I currently hold California State Certification as a Water Treatment Operator and Water Distribution Operator. Besides 16 years of experience in local politics I am certified by the California Special Districts Association in Special District Management.

I'm seeking a second term as your elected represntitive on the SSWD Board of Directors so that I may continue to fight for the Ratepayers of Sacramento Suburban Water District and be your voice at the Directors Table as I have in the past. Make no mistake,I'm NOT afraid to vote the way the People want and not just be a follower. My past voting record supports these statements:

  • I'm the Only Director to vote against the Arcade - Northridge Merger(Which resulted in massive Arcade customer increases and 2 criminal convictions for fraud)

  • I am the only Director to vote against ALL Suburban Water rate increases.

  • Lead the Districts' fight with CALPERS to recieve a refund of almost $1 Million dollars to the district.

  • I continue to explore payment options for district ratepayers, especially seniors and fixed income households.

The only compensation paid to SSWD Directors is $100.00 per mtg/day of service. I ask that you please continue to support a true local People's Advocate that has and will continue to seek out your input and to champion your issues. Please be sure to VOTE on Nov. 2nd.
