Taxes & Fiscal Responsibility

By Matt Gray

Candidate for Proposed City of Arden Arcade

This information is provided by the candidate
Matt is fiscally conservative and recognizes we need to lower taxes to get our economy moving again. For his fiscally responsible commitment, and platform to go after fraud and other abuses, Matt has earned the support of taxpayers, businesses, and public service professionals.
Call it a fee, license, or surcharge -- they are all a type of tax. We pay income tax, sales tax, use tax, rental tax, marriage license (tax), birth certificate (tax), death certificate (tax), property tax, gas tax, utility tax, park tax, pet licensing (tax), community improvement tax, and more. The truth is we pay more than enough taxes. -- Matt Gray

We pay so many taxes because of waste and fraud that is overlooked by government agencies.

California receives plenty of tax dollars to properly function. We need to be more disciplined about how we spend our tax dollars. Due to irresponsible spending and apathy towards fraud, too much of California's tax dollars gets wasted.

Of course this means not enough of our local taxes stay in our community for local benefit. This is one of the many reasons by cityhood is so important for our region.

People know they can scam the system and rarely get caught. We have had medical doctors billing the state for 28-hour work days, and other medical doctors using the Medi-Cal numbers of non-english speaking Medi-Cal recipients for false billing on services that were never provided.

This is where Matt's extensive legislative and small business experience really pays off. Matt will immediately be able to cut through the rhetoric and focus upon the specific instances of fraud and abuse, while pulling together a cost effective budget that protects taxpayers.

As your City Council Member, Matt Gray will use his years of experience working on the state budget issues to push for reform on government waste and fraud. He will draw attention to attaining greater control and oversight on state agencies, getting specific line item use in the budget and eliminate slush fund spending. California government must redirect its priorities toward protecting local communities, tighten its budget like everyone else, go after fraud, and streamline inefficiencies.
