Accountability

By HK Allen

Candidate for Board Member; Natomas Unified School District

This information is provided by the candidate
"We cannot close the performance gap without accountability, and accountability is a three way relationship between teacher, student and the parents."
Parents believe teachers need to be held more accountable; teachers believe parents must show that they care about their child's/children's education. The truth is we must promote stronger bonds between parents and teachers. Many schools are using the internet to keep the lines of communication open between parents and teachers. Natomas Unified has a current online system, but it currently does not do enough to promote communication.

We need to step into the twenty first century and create a Natomas eParent services. Natomas eParent service will be more that an online system, it will be an interactive system that has the ability to be operated by not just a PC, but also by way of mobile smart phones. This would allow parents to receive instant updates on their child's daily attendance, daily behavior, daily classwork as-well-as homework, work participation and test scores.

With so many responsibilities to tend to daily, some parents face difficulties such as scheduling. As such, the eParent service program will be another option and avenue to assist parents in getting more involved and connected.
