Kathy is both a political leader as well as a community leader. She has been involved in Cathedral City since 1992 when she first joined the Cathedral City Mobile Home Fair Housing Commission. In 1994 Kathy became a member of the Cathedral City Planning Commission and in 1998 was first elected to City Council. A bid for the Mayors seat proved successful in 2004, a position Kathy has held ever since.
Kathy currently sits on several boards: Member of first Desert Lyceum, University of Riverside, Palm Desert Campus, CVAG Executive Board, Coachella Valley Economic Partnership and Convention and Visitors Authority to name just a few. Kathy has been honored by the Chamber of Commerce as their 2007 Woman of the Year, the 2006 Sol Azteca Community Service Award, 2003 Who's Who of Women in Business as well as Cathedral City Athena Award for Women in Business in 1999 and One of 12 women honored as the Desert Sun Women in Business for 1998.
