This information is provided by the candidate

Thank you for letting me introduce myself, my family, and my platform for a better community.

My name is Brandon Shoemaker. I've been married for 14 years to my wife Renee. We have two children, Sierra 9 and Evan 6. My family has had a long tradition of service and I hope to add to that proud tradition by serving you and our community here in the 31st Assembly District.

Although I have worked in law enforcement for nearly 20-years, the greatest catalyst for running for this office has been my recent experience in Iraq working for the U.S. Department of Justice. In hostile country 24-hours a day, I trained local Iraqis to become peace officers so that they could stand up and Americans could come home. Surviving IED (Improvised Explosive Device) attacks and shot at more times than I can remember, I was lucky enough to make it home.

Many of my fellow coworkers and Iraqi recruits did not.

This is an experience that, as you can imagine, brings clarity to one's life + emphasizing the importance of family, community, and responsibility.

"Common Sense, Family Values, Public Safety" is my campaign platform. These are not just words or a phrase. These are core ideals I believe in.

This election will be decided on three things: water, labor and the economy/ state budget. Some of our legislators have forgotten what common sense is. Decisions about our livelihood are being made based on political party alignment. Some legislators think these issues are black or white when in reality Californian's know these issues to be either right or wrong. In government there are too many shades of grey. There should be no deviation between right and wrong.

I am not a career politician and I speak plainly. I have decided to run for office, not because any of my opponents are unqualified or have bad intentions, but because I believe that I can do a better job than anyone else.

I am an independent decision maker, but, more importantly, I will bring new ideas to help fix our ailing state.

I hope that I can earn your vote.
