Energy

By Michael Robert LeBarre

Candidate for United States Representative; District 17; Republican Party

Energy is the catalyst that drives our economy. Without a consistent and inexpensive supply of energy we put our economy and Country at risk.
Energy is the catalyst that drives our economy. Without a consistent and inexpensive supply of energy we put our economy and Country at risk. As a Nation, in 2009, we sent more than 250 billion dollars out of our country to purchase foreign oil. To put that in perspective, that is the equivalent of over 5 million jobs at $50,000 per year.

Our Nation has the resources to produce the energy we need, but the party machine and career politicians have fought the development of these resources. They are turning their backs on their constitutional duty to promote the general welfare. Instead of allowing for a sensible energy policy consisting of both proven energy resources and developing renewable technologies, they choose to focus solely on renewable energy. Our renewable technologies show great promise, but can not, at this time, generate the capacity needed for the demands of our Country. While we are limited by our Federal Government of where, when, and how much we are allowed to develop, Russia , for example, does not impose these economy killing restrictions upon themselves. Russia, to protect their economy, recently announced they will be expanding their operations into the Gulf of Mexico. It makes you wonder, just who are these career politicians working for.

As a Nation, we must develop as quickly as possible, all proven resources as we concurrently continue developing our renewable technologies. A common sense energy policy will provide jobs, save American's money, and make our businesses more competitive. If elected, I will aggressively promote policies and legislation that will accomplish these goals.
