CANDIDATE STATEMENT FOR MARK CHURCH

Occupation: San Mateo County Supervisor

Education and Qualifications: Bachelors Degree, Business Administration, University of Pacific; Juris Doctor Degree, McGeorge Law School

For the past ten years, I have served the residents of San Mateo County on the Board of Supervisors. I was a Mayor and City Councilmember before being elected to the Board.

As a Supervisor, I've worked hard to make county government efficient, transparent and accountable. I initiated the first departmental performance audits, which streamlined operations and maximized productivity. I was instrumental in the reorganization of county government, which eliminated one department and consolidated services. I also helped create a Whistleblower Ordinance to encourage the reporting of waste and fraud in government. The environment, public safety and quality schools have also been legislative priorities for me.

Government faces difficult financial times. We must continue providing necessary and vital services with the resources we have. I believe we can.

Cost savings are achievable through increased automation and implementation of best practices.

I am committed to early, accurate election returns, fair valuations, prompt processing of documents and efficient, courteous service.

I will continue the tradition of excellence and integrity which my father, Marvin Church, and his successor, Warren Slocum, have established for this office.

Your vote will be appreciated.
