A 30 year resident of the Santa Barbara County 2nd District, Dr. Dan Secord and his wife Mary bought their first home in 1970 on Cambridge Drive and Dan practiced Obstetrics and Gynecology at Goleta Valley Hospital.

Dan has been active in politics since medical school and while delivering over 6000 babies he has found the time to serve the people of Santa Barbara on a local, regional and state level. In his 17 years of service as a Harbor Commissioner, Planning Commissioner and a twice-elected member of the Santa Barbara City Council, Dan Secord has earned a reputation as a judicious decision-maker and a voracious researcher.

This thoughtful, independent thinking has been shaped by Dan's varied past as an orphan driven to fend for himself at 15, a soldier in the US Army, and a physician who put himself through college and medical school before establishing a successful Santa Barbara practice in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has been a courageous advocate for women for years, taking a pro-choice position early in his medical career and running volunteer clinics for Planned Parenthood.

Dan is currently is on the Dean's Council of the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UCSB and has an appointment by the governor to the California Coastal Commission where has come to understand the need for protecting and preserving our environmental treasurers. He has quickly earned the respect of his fellow commissioners on both side of the political aisle and has developed good working relationships with county officials up and down the entire state.

Now Dan is running for Supervisor. With a long history of honesty, intelligence and building bi-partisan coalitions, Dr. Dan Secord has the experience and relationships and courage to stand up for the people in the 2nd District.
