Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Kate Lenox

Candidate for
Member, Democratic Party Party County Central Committee; County of Sacramento; State Assembly District 9

This information is provided by the candidate

I'm a local Democratic activist.

I first got involved with local politics because of the closure of Sacramento High School. Local government has a profound affect on people's lives, yet often takes a back seat to state and national races. I believe in public education and I have been involved in the Sacramento City Unified School District where my children attended school.

I worked on both Ellyne Bell's campaigns for SCUSD school board. I'm currently treasurer of her 2010 campaign. I helped to get local Measures J & K on the ballot for district elections for school board in 2006, and I will be working to help the candidates we endorse get elected to their districts in Sac City Unified in November. Lately I've also been involved in city issues as I was against the "Strong Mayor" Initiative. I'm also involved in volunteering for campaigns for city council.

For the past year and a half I've been President of Women Democrats of Sacramento County, the oldest chartered Democratic club in the county. We have monthly programs on issues of interest to our members, including of course, women's issues. We also hold fundraisers and contribute financially to the campaigns of candidates the club endorses.

While on the Central Committee I have been involved in the Voter Registration Program. I regularly volunteer to register voters at special events and at the New Citizens Swearing-in Ceremonies held at Memorial Auditorium each month. I also serve on the Campaign Services committee which endorses and supports candidates for local office. I'm also a Neighborhood Leader for my precinct which I walk in support of our endorsed candidates.
