Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Matt Hedges

Candidate for
Member; Sacramento County Board of Education; Trustee Area 3

This information is provided by the candidate

Matt Hedges: Trusted Community Leader. Respected Business Owner. Lifelong Resident.

I'm asking for your help + and your vote + to help get our local schools back on track. We need to take a business like approach to our schools by tightening up our budgets, cutting waste, and thinking outside the box. I've done it before as a business owner, and as a non-profit director for a large local company.

That's why I've earned bi-partisan support from local leaders like: Supervisor Roberta MacGlashan, Sacramento County Board of Education Trustee Brian Cooley, Rancho Cordova Councilmember David Sander, and many others.

Hundreds of great teachers in Sacramento County will be cut in 2010, which is the last thing we need when California ranks near the bottom of every education study. We need to establish priorities for our schools by focusing on things like retaining teachers, keeping our school books up to date, and funding career technical programs so students are ready for work when they graduate. We need to stop focusing on things like higher pay for district administrators.

Our schools are heading in the wrong direction, voting for another school administrator to represent you will bring more of the same.

If you agree we need a fresh, new look at our Board of Education, I need your support AND your vote.
