Kerry Will Work for Santa Venetia

By Kerry L Mazzoni

Candidate for Supervisor; County of Marin; Supervisorial District 1

This information is provided by the candidate
Kerry will work for Santa Venetia to stand up for the community, its watershed, its safety and its environment. Kerry has the experience to build consensus at Marin Civic Center and San Rafael City Hall.
Development Santa Venetia needs a community plan to provide a road map for the neighborhood. Once a community plan is developed, battles over projects that are out of character with the neighborhood need not be discussed before planning boards. Kerry pledges to find the funding and get the ball rolling for the Santa Venetia Community Plan during her first year in office. Santa Venetia has waited long enough for a community plan. Watershed Planning and Flood Protection The Board of Supervisors' top five priorities include Watershed Stewardship. Inexplicably Gallinas Creek is not a top tier project despite being home to Marin's largest concentration of federally protected California Clapper Rail. Kerry will make certain the Las Gallinas Watershed gets the same attention and protections afforded to Marin County's other watersheds. Sustainability begins with watersheds so flood protection must look at the total watershed and not piecemeal flood control projects. Traffic Morning Traffic on North San Pedro Road is unacceptable. Kerry will bring all responsible parties--the County, the Schools and the City of San Rafael to the table for real solutions. Emergency Operations Center While the current Board of Supervisors stubbornly holds on to their preferred site at the Civic Center dog park and Jury parking lot, this critical project has festered, leaving all of Marin at risk. Kerry supports using the earthquake stable, now vacant, Marin Commons Building which will save millions in construction and years of planning and eliminate the need for the County to lease expensive office space for other departments. McPhail School Site The local animal rescue service Wildcare, is an ideal fit for the vacant McPhail School site. San Rafael City Schools have legitimate needs as they experience enrollment growth. Kerry will work to find creative solutions for the use of this site that meet the needs of the school district and the community. Wildcare can continue to provide their valuable service and provide educational opportunities for San Rafael students.
