Brief Biography: As a young child growing up, our family had extremely limited resources. We lived in rural Washington state where I worked harvesting row crops to help feed my family. I yearned for a better life. Later, with the help of loving foster parents, I achieved that goal through education and dedication. I've had the honor of receiving degrees from West Point, the Naval Post Graduate School, Webster University, along with a RAND Corporation fellowship.

After receiving my commission from West Point, I served the remainder of my 25 years in the Army receiving advance training in engineering and management. My last two assignments were in the National Missile Defense and Joint Space Commands. Simply put, my Army career stretched from the foxhole to outer space. After retirement from the military I worked as an Aerospace Systems Engineer at Lockheed-Martin in Sunnyvale. Later, in the private industry, I've worked as consultant to high technology companies. My training and work experience have required me to understand the application of technology and modern management strategies to a myriad of real-world problems.

For almost two decades I've lived in Prunedale where my wife Jan and I own a horse stables "Ranch Forgotten." Since 2000 we've allowed the "Redwings Horse Sanctuary" a local nonprofit that's dedicated to providing homes for abused and abandoned horses to use our facility for no fee.

For more than a decade my wife Jan and I have been deeply involved in the issues that face Monterey County. Teamed with neighborhood groups, we've opposed poorly planned projects like "Rancho San Wrong" which would have harmed our fragile water aquifers and crippled our roadways with unmitigated traffic, and pollution. We've demanded developers be held to their permit requirements for infrastructure and fire protection. We've pushed for timely code enforcement and we've fought for open government.
