A former Senior Compliance Specialist at the US Securities and Exchange Commission, Ron Holly currently watches over public borrowing at the County of Monterey.

As Chief Deputy Auditor-Controller, Ron saved county taxpayers $1.5 million in 2009 by refinancing Natividad hospital bonds.

The same year, he issued $55 million in short-term borrowing at the lowest interest rate in county history: 0.42%.

Among the various degrees and certifications held by Ron, his B.A. in Accounting issued by Central Oklahoma University and his designation as a Certified Fraud Examiner by the ACFE are specifically applicable to the duties of the Treasurer-Tax Collector. As a student, he worked full-time as controller of a savings and loan and then as a compliance examiner for the Oklahoma Department of Securities.

He then moved to the SEC, where he was responsible for regulating mutual funds and investment advisers. Ron served as an expert witness in high profile enforcement actions, trained investigators nationwide, and helped develop SEC policy on complex investment structures.

Ron's primary objectives as Treasurer will be the protection of Treasury funds, the maintenance of adequate cash to cover needs, and the use of secure investments to safeguard against losses. Once elected, he will immediately amend the County's investment policy to eliminate risky, uncollateralized investments.

Born in Wewoka, Oklahoma, Ron attended the University of Oklahoma, Oscar Rose Junior College, and Central Oklahoma University.

A former NCAA Division 1 tennis player, Ron enjoys football, basketball, tennis, golf and skiing.
