By Stephen Samuel "Steve" Winkler

Candidate for Member, Democratic Party County Central Committee; County of Los Angeles; Assembly District 38

This information is provided by the candidate
16 March 2003, I was the Volunteer of the Year from Region 11 at the California Democratic Party Convention in Sacramento. I was recognized by my Regional Director, Ron Gillis.
It was one of the proudest moments in my life. On 16 March 2003, Ron Gillis and our Chairman, the Honorable Senator Art Torres (Ret,) recognized all of my hard work and bestowed on me the Volunteer of the Year award. Incidentally, this was the second time that I was recognized by our Chairman, Art Torres. The first time was on 10 February 2001. Allow me to quote him, "The California Democratic Party recognizes the commitment and leadership Stephen Winkler has given to Democrats for the past years." Incidentally, in this connection, I was presented the "Certificate of Recognition" by our Assembly Speaker, the Honorable Robert M. Hertzberg. May I quote him, "In recognition of your selection as the recipient of the Male Volunteer of the Year 2000 by the Democratic Club of the Santa Clarita Valley. Your tireless efforts at the campaign headquarters as well as your work on Democratic campaigns throughout the San Fernando Valley has set an example for all of us to follow." At at this time, I was also awarded the "Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition" by the Honorable Brad Sherman. Said the Congressman, "My recognition of outstanding and invaluable service to the community." Dated 10 February 2001. Most recently, I was selected volunteer of the year in our presidential year, 2008. Not only was I selected volunteer of the year for 2008 once, but on the contrary, I received it twice for my hard work in making sure we elect a Democrat to the White House. First, the Texas Hill Stars certified that Stephen Winkler made the largest number of activated calls, an enormous 250 calls to the State of Ohio for Hillary Clinton. Second, the Hollywood Hills for Hillary certified that Stephen Winkler called the State of Ohio non-stop for three hours. After that, I went to the City of El Paso, Texas for Hillary Clinton and helped both in the caucus and the primary.
