Many of you have often gone to the voting booth with doubts and dissatisfaction as to which local candidate to vote for. Time after time, in an effort to fulfill your civic duties, you have cast your vote hoping that the sound bites you heard during the campaign will result in legislative action that might help you in your daily lives. Seldom, if ever, have we been satisfied. Well, I hope the recent events in the United States have opened the door for new thinking and expectation. Hope for the possibility of real change is what President Obama's election as the forty-fourth president of the United States has afforded the people. I believe times have changed and more and more honest, hardworking, knowledgeable, and intelligent people are being attracted to government services. Hopefully, now you will elect candidates who are the best choice and who deserve your vote and TRUST.

People demand progressive change. Our caretakers have forsaken the economy, the environment, and our well being. This is partly due to our leaders' lack of knowledge and qualification. The current authorities are sharply focused on preserving their grip by placing a new face on their outdated, inefficient, and untenable systems. However, despite being bombarded by advertisements paid for by special interest groups, I believe voters are bright and can see the truth in candidates. As such, and while faced with today's harsh realities, we should expect to cast our vote in the direction which can promise and deliver real progressive changes.

If Elected as your Assessor I will:

1) Establish transparency in the Assessor's Office similar to the implementation of same in the Los Angeles County Counsel's Office by the Board of Supervisors. 2) Treat all taxpayers equally. 3) Safeguard your tax dollars by carefully monitoring the large value reduction recommendations before the Assessment Appeals Board. 4) Provide courteous, compassionate, and speedy services to all taxpayers. 5) Streamline the activities of the Office for consistency, accuracy, and fairness. 6) Economize the use of public funds and carefully monitor the spending and rigorously control waste. 7) Modernize the Assessor's computer systems to automate the activities and simplify and enhance taxpayer communication.
