Teacher's Contract 2011

We need to start working on a model that is mutually beneficial to the taxpayers and the teachers.
There has been a lot of hostility about the fact that our teachers did not 'give back' anything this year. In other districts contracts were opened up and renegotiated. In fairness, last year Tuckahoe teachers gave back about $1,000 per teacher.

The problem is inherent in the fact that these contracts do not have a shared risk/reward model. Whatever logic was applied to negotiate the existing contract that is about to expire failed to consider the cyclical nature of all economies.
