Spending Restraint

By Kenneth J. "Ken" Aufsesser

Candidate for Member, Board of Education; Katonah-Lewisboro Union Free School District

This information is provided by the candidate
As Thomas Friedman wrote in the New York Times on May 9, government must make hard choices to cut spending to preserve a rich future for our issue.
The Board of Education needs to start with a hard maximum number for spending and carve a budget to match it. As Friedman wrote, employees will need to be cut, have their salaries frozen and we simply need to spend less.

To offset the one-sidedness of cuts, public fiduciaries need to be creative and invite target groups to participate in creating a less stressful and more inspired work environment for those affected by the need for reduced spending. In our community, teachers students and Taxpayers must all be heard. There is no place for condescension, arrogance or refusal to consider diverse views.
