Qualifications
I am running for re-election because the City of Larkspur needs continuity and leadership on the Council in these tough times of unprecendented economic challenges. My terms on the Council have demonstrated I have a stong, effective record of leadership on a variety of issues - budgets, multi-modal transportation, Safe Routes to Schools, preservation of open space, et al.

The state of California is not finished with "take aways" of our local property and gas taxes as the state deficit continues to worsen. We anticipate more reductions in the coming months, so we must continue to both economize and look for collaboration with other governmental agencies for better ways of delivering service.

Larkspur is also losing our long time City Manager, Jean Bonander, whose strength was finance and working with other agencies on common issues. We must hire an Interim Manager while searching for a permanent manager. At the same time the Twin Cities Police will be going out to bid and breaking ground for a new police facility. Larkspur must concurrently move its existing corporation yard off site by finalizing an an agreement with the Tamalpais Union High School District. Other near term projects are the engineering and construction of local bridges to meet earthquake standards and monitoring the next phase of the major Highway 101/Greenbrae/Twin Cities Interchange project to minimize impacts on local streets. We will begin updating the 1990 Larkspur General Plan early next year.

The Larkspur City Council and residents have a full agenda of challenges. I believe I have the broad experience and background. As the Marin Independent Journal stated in its endorsement: "(she) has been an effective voice for the city's interests and concerns..."
