This election is about you - Novato's taxpayers. The big issue is the use of a contractor to run your new sewage treatment plant. This contract will save you about $7 million over the next 5 years. Three of the candidates in this election oppose this even though these savings were checked by independent experts. The opponents appear to be motivated by personal or special agendas + not the interests of Novato's taxpayers.

It is sad that there have been a lot of false claims and distortions recently about your Sanitary District. The critics appear to be well funded and supported by out-of-town interests. I expect you will swamped with last minute advertising and hit pieces. I hope the taxpayers of Novato can separate fact from fiction.

I have served three terms on the Board and have over 40 years experience in technical and engineering jobs. Veolia, the contractor we have chosen to run the new plant must deliver on its commitment to reduce operating cost, cut electricity consumption and safely start up and take care of your $90 million plant.

This is my goal.

Sanitary districts face potential fines of millions of dollars for spills and violations. When this happens, the taxpayers foot the bill. Our community needs the best-trained crews and most up-to-date procedures and equipment to avoid big penalties.

This is my goal.

Last year the District's electric bill was more than $900,000. As soon as our new plant is finished, I want to generate as much electricity as economical from waste gas and solar panels.

This is my goal.

To offset threats of water rationing and shortages, I will keep working on recycled water projects in cooperation with other agencies to get our share of the $25 million in Federal grants authorized for the North Bay.

This is my goal.

I am running for reelection for another term because I want to keep putting the interest of Novato's taxpayers first.

This is my goal.
