Steve's Stance of the Issues

By Steve Charrier

Candidate for Board Member; Lagunitas School District

Four Key Issues in this Race
Issues Steve feels are important this election cycle include:

1. School Finances (The 800 pound gorilla in the room) requires that we pass the Parcel Tax; that we maintain an Attitude of abundance/gratitude and not slip into scarcity/fear; that we explore innovative cost controls (staffing, shared services) and that we get even more creative with our fundraising.

2. E Pluribus Unum (Out of Many, One) is a rally cry I think will be even more important due to finances and means to me things like "maintain program integrity but celebrate we are one community" and "we are all in this together" and "preserve the core, but innovate."

3. Prioritization Is our focus determined by our vision and our values or by the crisis of the day?

4. Supportive Accountability We have arguably the most innovative District in the County yet what is success in our District? Testing is not "the answer" so how do we ensure kids are learning and teachers are the best that they can be? This can be a lively debate and nothing is more crucial to our mission.
