Mill Valley faces high fire danger from Mount Tam's slopes and sits adjacent to flood zones. City government's most important job is protecting its residents, especially preparing for natural disasters and emergencies. In Andy's four years as City Councilmember and as Mayor, emergency preparation work has included clearing Blithedale Ridge and Railroad Grade fire breaks, evacuation drills in canyon neighborhoods, improving the City's network of steps, lanes and paths, and equipping the Community Center as a post-disaster safe haven. Effective disaster preparedness remains a top priority for Andy. |
